Hasta el 27 de abril esta poblaci\u00f3n llevaba 2.421, seguido de Sabanagrande con 1.902, Palmar de Varela 1.765 y Ponedera 749.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En cuanto al n\u00famero de fallecidos, hasta la se\u00f1alada fecha iban 178. Tambi\u00e9n Santo Tom\u00e1s presenta el mayor n\u00famero de muertes por covid-19 en esta parte del departamento, con un total de 68.<br>\nDe acuerdo con el Ministerio de Salud, le siguen Palmar de Varela con un total de 47, Sabanagrande con 37 y el municipio de Ponedera, 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En cuanto al n\u00famero de recuperados, ascienden a cerca de 6.400, distribuidos as\u00ed: Ponedera 685, Palmar de Varela 1.650, Santo Tom\u00e1s 2.385 y Sabanagrande 1.769.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uno de los factores que m\u00e1s ha incidido en el elevado n\u00famero de contagios en Santo Tom\u00e1s es la indisciplina social, tal como sucede en el resto del departamento y el pa\u00eds en general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No solamente es el incumplimiento de los protocolos de bioseguridad, especialmente en las reuniones y fiestas familiares, sino tambi\u00e9n en la desobediencia de las medidas restrictivas implementadas por el gobierno para contener la expansi\u00f3n del coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero tambi\u00e9n se ha registrado cierta flexibilidad de las autoridades para hacer cumplir tales disposiciones, sobre todo en los momentos en que han bajado los casos.
